Brett and Shannon: Life, As We Know It

Brett and I planned a trip to take the boys to San Fransisco last weekend. We had our tickets and hotels booked but after talking with a few other people we decided it might not be the most kid-friendly area to visit (plus the added craziness of the World Series). I've always wanted to see the Bay Area so we will get there sometime! Anyway, last minute we ended up canceling everything and booked a new trip to Legoland, CA instead. Brett has a companion pass with Southwest so I fly anywhere he does for free, and he has racked up so many Hilton points with all his travel we have places we can stay at for $4! Needless to say the boys were so surprised and had a great time. The Lord blessed us with gorgeous weather, happy hearts, easy kids, sweet bonding time, and amazing family memories.

We booked a suite with two queen beds. They didn't have any of those when we showed up so they ended up giving us two suites side by side. We had two kitchens, two living rooms, two master bedrooms and baths. It was slightly ridiculous but fun having SO much space and everyone had their own rooms. The boys thought it was a special treat getting to sleep in a hotel.

Legoland park does a special "Brick or Treat" Halloween event during October where they stay open later on Friday and Saturday nights . We got to the hotel and got the boys in their costumes and we headed out! They had different stations set up for fruits, way too much candy, Lego sets, drinks, food... They really hooked us up! The atmosphere was cute with tons of lights (nothing spooky), and they did a few of the rides.

These Lego building stations are genius. They have them outside the rides. Parents stand in line and kids play till it's their turn to get on.

We breezed through the Sea Life Aquarium right before close. Lots of cool stuff to see but didn't have enough time. We also had tickets to do the water parks but again...ran out of time. We thought maybe on Saturday we could do some of the water park but the kids were content just seeing Legoland and spent way more time looking at all the different cities than we expected.

No nap, early morning traveling and ALL smiles at 10pm watching fireworks!

He slept the entire way out of the park, getting into the car, getting out of the car, me putting jammies on. THE sweetest.

This crazy was up (Saturday morning) at 6am just anxious to build his new Lego set. Brett got him set up and went back to bed.

Gearing up for a new day (Saturday)! The boys loved the continental breakfast at the hotel. Micah's eyes were as big as saucers when we said he could pick whatever he wanted. We grabbed a quick bite to eat, stopped for some coffee and drove a short 5 mins to the beach before heading to Legoland for the day. Brett wanted to be at the park when the gates opened because a lot of the times they let you in early and have the rides going already.

In the afternoon the big boys went and did all the big rides/roller coasters (The Dragon, Technic Coaster, Captain Cranky's Challenge, and Knight's tournament) so Lucas and I chilled in the Duplo Village. Lucas favorite ride was the Fairy Tale Brook (Boat ride) and Micah's was the Dragon. They both loved the Star Wars mini land the best. It's sad how many characters my 2 year old knows...and I know maybe 3!

Family pic with WildStyle. Micah has never really been into characters Lucas has usually been terrified of them, but this time Luke couldn't get enough. That's all he talks about when we ask him about the trip. We went non-stop from 9:30-4:30. We left with a half hour left till close. We were ready for some down time! We grabbed some New York style pizza, and took it to the beach to watch the sunset and then headed to the hotel for a dip in the pool, and movie/popcorn in bed. One of my favorite family nights in Butler history.

The only sad part was my best friend Courtney and her family were supposed to meet us and spend all of Saturday with us at Legoland. Earlier in the week their baby girl had to spend 1 night in the E.R and 2 more at the Children's hospital with phenomena and bronchiolitis. She is doing MUCH better (Praise God!!). I would have been devastated but we will be back out and staying with them in 2 1/2 weeks!!! We did get to pop in and see them for an hour after we landed on Friday so that was fun! Can't believe I get to see her twice this year! Rest up, sweet Sophie!
