I hate saying goodbye to summer
I wanted to get a quick blog up before the chaos of school and fall starts. I keep finding myself saying "just get through this crazy phase and things will slow down" but it NEVER does!! This summer is so much of a blur I feel like it didn't even happen. I was flipping through pics on my phone to help me recap the highlights and in between traveling, and visitors I think we literally lived at the pool. Micah had private lessons this summer. It made such a difference having that one-on-one time with an instructor instead of in a group setting. After two 30 minute lessons he was jumping off the diving board into 10ft deep water and able to swim to the side "easy peasy lemon squeezy", as he would say. He went from preschool class A skipping 4 other levels in a matter of two days, and now they are working on perfecting his technique. Making us very proud and saving us lots of money. :) Thanks, bud!!
Brett's crazy travel schedule started: home one full week and then gone the whole next week. We've managed our 5th week with him away. During those weeks he is gone I try and jam pack our days with lots of play dates, trips to Discovery Gateway, The zoo, splash pads, parks, hikes, the aquarium, Lagoon, and of course the pool. Thankfully Salt Lake does not lack entertainment and fun activities for little ones. We miss him like crazy when he's gone and savor all the time we get with him. Excited he gets a little time to play. He gets in from Denver tonight and gets to fly to Atlanta in the morning with a friend to meet up with others friends for Boise States first football game of the year (only slightly jealous)!! I'm gearing up for my parents coming this weekend and staying for the week!! Woo-hoo!!
My wild child on the HIGH dive.
5 yr. check up 46.5 inches, 52lbs. I just
can't believe how much he's changed since last year. How big, and mature
he's getting. The ways he talks and communicates like a much older
child. He taught himself how to ride his bike without training wheels
early this spring, still has no fear of anything potentially dangerous:
snakes/ bugs/ heights. I'm not kidding when I say he is a thrill seeker in every sense of the word. We've been memorizing Bible verses together every week, and has been asking many questions about God, death, heaven etc. I got a book recommended by a friend/pastors wife and it has helped immensely with the hard questions he's been firing at us.
It's crazy to me that we're already having conversations like this.
Praying for a soft heart because he is incredibly curious and very
teachable at this point.
2 yr. checkup 38 inches tall, 36lbs, talking more and more full sentences, extremely opinionated, sleeping in the bottom bunk, pooped trained and working on the potty part, climbs on EVERYTHING, big time snuggler, tubes still in and ear infection free for 7+months.
Lisa, Max and Wyatt came from Boise for a couple days! We hit up some random pool party and Lagoon!
Date nights are always on the calender. We can't stress it enough. We have them planned out before he leaves for a trip. It gives us something to look forward to when we're stuck in the middle of a hard week apart. We've found the gem of all babysitters and are so thankful for her! I seriously don't know how military wives do it. They have my utmost respect!
