A year without blogging

A little has happened since our last post and I want to mark the highlights so I’ll have them written down so I never forget! December was a bit insane and I didn’t get to write a Christmas letter. Sort of kicking myself for that.

2013 Highlights:

JANUARY: Snowmen and sledding! Boise had snow on the ground for a solid 2 months!

FEBRUARY: I really have no idea. I remember making heart pancakes for the boys on Valentine’s Day and that’s about it. Food is always on the top of my list. :) Sad but true.

MARCH: Family Florida trip and where we decided SLC was definitely in our future (beaches and Disney World).

APRIL: Girls weekend in AZ! PACKING BEGINS. Brett started his new job in Salt Lake City.

MAY: Our scrumptious munchkin turned ONE. I got to visit Brett in SLC over his birthday weekend (he turned 32) while the boys stayed in Boise with Butler seniors. We had a wonderful weekend alone together and got to zip line and stay in some cool places in downtown SLC. Movers and boxes took over our house.

JUNE: After two months we FINALLY got to join Brett in Salt Lake. Moving truck got here May 31. We had everything unboxed and put away June 2nd. Brett and I have the same mentality when it comes to that.  Micah turned 4! Rex and Eileen were here that first weekend we moved into our house.  Anne and Morgan drove down for a girl’s weekend and helped me settle in.  Brett and I got out for a night to see Tim McGraw in concert!

JULY: We took our first road trip with both boys to Colorado Springs and spent the Fourth of July with my family. Michelle and Toby Palin visited us with both of their boys. Mark and Kevin surprised Brett for a guy’s weekend here and a special visit from Grandma and Grandpa Butler at the end of the month.

AUGUST: Wes and Kylee came and stayed with us with their two girls, then we had Barrett, Rhonda and Kirsten join us. LAGOON! Jared, Rhonda and their two boys came the following weekend! The summer was spent exploring the new city, going to the pool daily, playing with cousins and hosting many visitors!!

SEPTEMBER: Micah had his FIRST DAY of preschool and my parents were here for that whole week. Luke mastered walking. We took a short trip to Boise, and Grandma and Grandpa Butler also came later that month. I also discovered the peach orchards here and am drooling just thinking of the juicy, candy-like peaches we collected from there. Can’t wait to go back!

OCTOBER: Palins, and Turners came this month. The little boys and I flew to Colorado and spent a week with my family and it was the first time we spent Halloween there. Super fun getting to dress the boy cousins all up and go trick-or-treating together. My mom insisted on having a ‘Thanksgiving Sunday’ while I was there with our whole family since I haven’t been there for Thanksgiving in 12 years.  Brett was in Chicago on business that week and then spent the weekend with his uncle Tim for their annual Notre Dame trip.  Lucas also had his myringotomy & tympanostomy tube procedure done.

NOVEMBER: Gould family came at the beginning of the month, I hosted my first Thanksgiving and Rex and Eileen were here for it. We did a fun run the morning of Thanksgiving with Rex.

DECEMBER: We took a family trip to see my best friend and her family in California (Disneyland and beach!) We also flew to Colorado for Christmas and spent time with my family. Drove to Kansas and Nebraska to see my grandparents. I turned 29 and we celebrated 9 years of marriage bliss!!

I’m sure more happened but this is all I can remember for now. We’ve enjoyed living 10 minutes from Caroline and family (Brett’s sister). Micah is loving all his cousin time. It was a whirlwind of a year. We have felt Gods presence, protection, peace and providence and we give Him all the praise. If you’ve made it to the end of this thanks for reading! Book your weekend to come stay with us! We’re booked solid now through April 12th. And no, that’s really not a joke. Thankful for all our amazing friends and family and appreciate all your support through this new journey!
